Hello, writer!

Thank you for taking the time to write for me! I hope it’s a fun time for you, and this letter provides you some guidance if you’re looking for it. A lot of these extra details are more directed towards plot or character development, but that’s mostly because the smut tags speak for themselves more clearly that I could ever manage—I’d be equally happy with PWP or plotty fic with smutty amplifiers. 

I tried to get at the heart about what I really like about these fandoms or pairings, but I don’t think any of them are exhaustive. If there’s something I bring up in one fandom that seems applicable in another that you’re writing, do feel free to steal.

And, after about the fourth pass through the tagset where I kept missing things, I ended up pulling a whole list for my reference that I’ve copied at the bottom of the letter. There was lot that really intrigued me but didn’t make it into my officially requested tags, so you're more than welcome to take a look there for extra inspiration if you'd like.

In general, I’m a bit basic in that I do like dommy, bigger, stronger, older tops and alphas, who are maybe a little (or very) mean. They don’t have to be all those things or extremely those things, but if you’re wondering who’d I prefer on top, it’s a fairly reliable preference.

Scenery, tradition, communities

I absolutely love being transported to a specific time, place, and/or culture. All of them. I love seeing how characters interact with the places and things around them, and I love it as a form of intimacy.

This can also be within smaller groups of people, perhaps within a limited window! I love sports teams, boarding schools or summer camps or colleges, subcultures, intense careers, etc. I also love focusing on less “glamorous” positions—it’s a shitty job or a shitty town or a shitty situation, but goddamn it, it’s your shit. As an extension, I really love AUs that still capture the dynamics at play in the original setting.

Relationship messiness

People make the wrong choices for the right person (or the wrong person, but it feels so right) just works for me. This covers a lot of ground: codependent relationships, infidelity, power imbalances, working through internalized homophobia, assholes in love, and so on.

Casual sex (or is it (it is (unless…?))! Best friends (unless!?)! Taking time to figure out what the fuck your relationship is! Knowing what it is and loving and being dedicated to each other but still having to put in the work! Highs and lows within established relationships! The honeymoon period shining a little too bright!

Competency, loyalty, dedication

Really, I’m just very character-focused. I love seeing what people are good at and what (and who) they care about. They don’t need to be saintly about it, and it doesn’t need to come easy—making the choice is what really gets me.

I have also recently rediscovered my love for romance tropes, especially ones focused on how much the two characters just really, genuinely like each other. “As you wish”-ass levels of dedication. Pining because you don’t want to hurt what you’ve got already. Intimate little touches. Wooing your love interest with just, like, all the love languages. People committing to each other!!!

— Instead of calling for a duel when Simon and Daphne get caught in the garden, Anthony instead decides the proper thing to do to preserve Daphne's image is for him and Simon to get married.

— There was once a time when Anthony thought that he and Simon would be getting married. Then Simon got all Daddy Issues and disappeared, only to reappear in time to court Anthony’s sister? Rage. Raaaage. Then confessions and understanding and so on.

— Universe where mpreg is generally known, but of course the Bridgertons are of higher stock than that and it’s not like Anthony would put himself into a position to get knocked up in the first place—oh, wait, oops. I spent most of The Fast and the Furious (2001) brushing off the narrative that Dom is A Bad Man much like Brian himself but. I do think it would be fun in fic if he was a bit meaner about putting Brian through his paces.

Alternatively, maybe it's as fine as a pair of fugitives can be in the early aughts and while there's a powder keg of Something brewing between the two of them, it takes some trial and error to figure out what to do with it. Or maybe they do know what to do with it and they have a grand old time making some reckless decisions!

I’ve only seen the first movie, and while I’m not worried about spoilers or anything, I’d appreciate not being dropped into one of the later movies without any extra context.
