Dear writer,

Thank you so much for creating something for me! I’m really excited to see what you come with.

I’ve tried to stick with tags that indicate as much, but broadly speaking, what really gets me with pregnancy in fiction is angst/drama/tension in a very critical time in someone’s life, and the potential of intimacy/possessiveness/breeding kink around conception. I’m totally cool with either PWP related to that or longer plots that deal with the fallout. Pregnancy or baby-related fluff doesn’t interest me as much, and I don’t kink as much on the later phases of pregnancy (although early on when they’re still just thinking about what’s to come can also be a lot of fun).

Relatedly, while I’m obviously very here to see a pregnancy played out, for a lot of these ships I’m very open to the end result of that angst/drama/tension being an abortion (or an ambigious ending, or whatever else you can work out) given that it’s what the pregnant person wants. So, no forced or medically necessary abortions, please.

I’m also fine with miscarriages, in the context of it not being devastating to the parent, i.e. they’re not being psyched about the pregnancy in the first place, or didn’t even know in the first place. Generally, the type of angst I’m into is more along the lines of “Okay, this has happened, what the fuck do I do now?” than “I wanted X and X has been taken away from me.”

Things that don’t squick me and aren’t hard and fast lines, but I do tend to have preferences on:

Impregnation and the parent characters dealing with the pregnancy > kidfic where babies/children are major characters

Characters having conflicting feelings about their pregnancy > characters being unable to get a wanted abortion

Mpreg being some degree of a known phenomenon > mpreg as a complete fluke that’s essentially unheard of/impossible within their universe

Part of what really dragged me into this movie was how kind, sweet, quiet moments were such small moments juxtaposed around this massive, traumatic, horrible event — and sometimes that kindness would get you killed!

And, honestly, Schofield’s got a face for stoic, exhausted suffering. I’d love to see how he handles what was just supposed to be some wartime comfort having such a lasting effect on his heart and body. Survivor’s guilt squared? Increased determination to do right by Tom and his family? Embitterment with the whole concept of war consuming generations of sons?

I know up-thread that I said I’m very into the angst, which is true, but for this canon, I’d prefer if it stuck with romance-y, easily resolved, happily ever after angst.

— Just to best friends since their schooldays! Surely there will be no consequences for this! … Oops!

— Instead of calling for a duel when Simon and Daphne get caught in the garden, Anthony instead decides the proper thing to do to preserve Daphne's image is for him and Simon to get married, and while they’re already here… oh no!

— Universe where mpreg is generally known, but of course they’re both of higher stock than that and it’s not like Anthony would put himself into a position to get knocked up in the first place—oh, wait, who could have predicted this. Then angst (with even more intense daddy issues this time) and confessions and understanding and so on.

— They had a very friendly catching up session between that reunion and Castle Kaneda, and that certainly didn’t help with everything else going on.

— They were together beforehand, and the “what about our CHILD!?” angle to their respective arguments vis a vis going along with the mongols just adds another layer of tension

— Dramatic reveals during one of their run-ins convinces the other to be a bit more merciful or just switch sides already, Ryuzo, you have been given so many chances!

For most of my prompts with these two, I’m fine with either of them being the pregnant one, but for this one prompt, my brain has also really latched onto the specific configuration of the Shogun letting Jin live but punishing him (and Ryuzo) by forcing them to learn the importance of family, loyalty, and responsibility up close.

Maybe it was supposed to have been an insult, forcing him to marry another man… but they have so much history… but being a samurai’s wife was not Ryuzo’s goal in life…

John’s relationship to parenting is… not great. And that’s what makes it great! The same goes for his and Arthur’s general goodness. I’d love to see an AU where Jack was secretly also Arthur’s, or maybe they had a crisis-averted earlier situation. Especially with the pseudo-incestuous angle of being taken in by Dutch, they’re just a mine of every angsty thing I dig about messed up family dynamics.
